It took me awhile, but I finally put together a book of my Skip Hunt Vagabond :: MEXICO 2009 Trip! Click HERE to preview the book! Cost is a bit steep on these books, so in order to keep my price reasonable... I edited this down to 40 pages. This includes a few sto… Continue

Wadley: Circulo Completo

For those interested... just updated my final entry into the Skip Hunt Vagabond travel blog with fresh text and photos from the desert region called Huiricuta by the Huichol Indians @ Estacion Wadley in San Luis Potosi, Mexico "Again, rain and cold. Hopefully once I get back to the sacred desert known as Huiricuta by the Huichol Indians, where I began this journey, the weather would be good. I thought perhaps I’d get one more lucky break on this trip… that my ride from Zacatecas back to Wadley… Continue

Zacatecas: Live To Fight Another Day

For those interested... just updated my Skip Hunt Vagabond travel blog with fresh text and photos from Zacatecas, Mexico "At what point do you cut and run? I was so Hell bent & committed to making good distance away from Puerto Vallarta before I slipped into even more days of lazy balmy leisure… that I just kept telling myself that the black cloud mass would just “burn off” like JR speculated. But, it got just got darker and d… Continue

Puerto Vallarta: Je Ne Sais Quoi

For those interested... just updated my Skip Hunt Vagabond travel blog with fresh text and photos from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico "Tenacatita bay proved to be lovely, but the heat had already risen to that level you get to in the summer where all is salty haze. I pulled off the main road the wound to the beach and a couple two or three nice bays. Given the signage and boat packages going to this place, I figured it’d be full of hotel… Continue

Barra de Navidad: Tiempo Tranquilo

Just added fresh photos and text from Barra de Navidad. :-) "Everything all the way up to checking out and saying “adios” was pleasant at the Hotel del Centro! Didn’t really matter to me what else they do there to keep the doors open. If I’ve ever in Guadalajara on a budget again, I will definitely be heading right back there. Friendly all the way up to the end and again, soooooo clean! Might be finally hitting some kind of stride. Getting out of Guadalajara was a snap. I was riding for the fi… Continue

Guadalajara: Un Cuarto Limpio

Just added fresh photos, text, and video from Guadalajara! "Getting out of Toluca was a little bit of a challenge. I just can’t seem to get the logic of the Mexican highway signs. That’s assuming of course that there is any such logic. I’m perpetually following a sign that’s telling me “This way to go to this such and such highway or city…”… everything seems to be going smoothly. I’m watching carefully for any change in the direction and see none. Next thing you know, I’m completely off course… Continue

San Jose del Pacifico thru Mexico City to Toluca!

Just updated my travelblog with fresh text and photos! "The last time I flew around the last of these glorious curves, winding my way up and over these mountains toward Oaxaca City, I was taken aback by the giant hunks of driftwood that’d been painted to resemble colorful monsters along the roadside. I know they were all signifying a shack selling small wood carved and painted animals, but in the mist they were marginally disturbing. This time, compared to what I’d experienced in the previous… Continue

Oaxaca, Mexico ~ San Jose del Pacifico: Oscuro

Just updated my Skip Hunt Vagabond Blog with fresh images and text! "San Jose del Pacifico: Oscuro Lugged all my gear back down three flights of stairs and repacked the bike in already sweltering temps. I just kept telling myself that it’d be good to be completely drenched in sweat before taking off because it’d be cooler once I got up to speed. Not so. I was just hot and wet. ;-) The ride back up the Oaxaca coast toward Pochutla, though hot and sticky, was uneventful and mostly pleasant. Two… Continue

Malinalco to Puerto Escondido!

Hi, I'm in Zacatecas now, but moving on soon. Will drop a note when I get to wherever I'm going! ;-) Since I have free wifi in this Hostal (Hostal Don David in Zacatecas, Mexico ~ GREAT place run by the nicest people you'll ever meet!) I managed to update my Skip Hunt Vagabond travelblog: "Just before leaving Malinalco, I took a ride to explore a couple nearby towns and look for motorcycle oil. Found the oil and got some advice on a route toward Puerto Escondido that I hadn’t considered. By t… Continue

Skip Hunt's Mexico: Artist Reception ~ Austin, Texas ~ May 9, 7-9PM

Stop by and check out the fresh photography by Skip Hunt at House Wine! This collection is from my recent motorcycle journey in Jan/Feb of 2009. I was reading Edward Weston's Mexico: Daybooks on the trip and decided to shoot mostly black and white. Digital yes, but set as b/w and not raw... so there would ONLY be black/white versions. It was an interesting exercise for me and am quite happy with the results! These images were made while touring in Mexico ~ Jan/Feb of 2009. And take the viewer… Continue
