- I am a freelance reporter and photographer working as a communications officer for an NGO based in Lashkar Gah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan. I was TIME's Russia correspondent. I have shot for The New York Times, TIME, Monocle, Marie Claire, the NewsHour and other publications. I graduated from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. I have lived in the former Soviet Union for five and a half years - at first in Kazakhstan, then in Azerbaijan and finally in Russia. I speak Russian and French fluently and basic Kazakh and Azerbaijani. I will freelance in Afghanistan once I finish my contract in Sept. 2010.
