A social/documentary photographer, my work is primarily concerned with the subverted dance between place and the people who define (and are defined by) place. The impulse to insert myself momentarily into the lives of others, while confronting my own sense of otherness, lends itself to an awkwardness that is both intimately revealing and alarmingly familiar. I teach media arts, poetry and social justice at The Calhoun School (Manhattan, New York). You can visit the school at www.calhoun.org
