Delmi Alvarez grew in Vigo, and studied the High secondary School. He began early to work like electrician by the day to at night pay his studies in the institute of Coia. Delmi tried to follow studies of History and Geography in the university but photojournalism don´t give so much time to go to class. He lived in the Canary Islands, working like temporary photographer for a local newspaper, and in the evening selling books door to door. As a concerned photographer in humanistic photography he documented the riots of the workers in the streets and the changes in the society after the death of Franco. In 1997 Delmi documented the life of Meninos de Rúa in Salvador de Bahía during three months. In 1989 he went to London to study English and worked as waiter, gardener and photojournalist freelance per hours for agencies AP, AFP and REUTERS. In 1990 lived in Cuba and 1991 went to cover the Yugoslavia war till 1993. Once it returned to Galicia gives workshops of photo journalism in small villages and faculties. He began the documentary project Galegos na Diáspora to demonstrate the Exodus of the galicians around the world. He traveled by the five continents. At the moment he lives in the diáspora in Riga, Latvia from 2002.
