Hello all. I am new to both the site and this board. Docu work is my passion and I try to spend as much time as possible shooting it. That being said, it was a pretty quiet summer in my part of the world.

Cheers.

Hi all,

I have a question regarding licencing still image for movie documentary?

Maybe you can help, i was contacted by a movie-documentary director. He is doing a documentary about the Winter Soldier of Iraq veterans Against the War and he wants to use some of my pictures for the film which will be on DVD and maybe on TV, certainly online via several WEB series.
We spoke yesterday about the licence but he does not know yet the number of photographs that he wants to use and for what?
He has a budget for still image but we did not yet speak about price.

Maybe someone can help me about the licence and the price that i should ask for the use of my pictures

Thanks in advance

Mathieu

Colour Photography has been around since the 1860's..
It was until the 70's in the last century when some daredevils in the art-photography dared to brake this B&W convention and started taking pictures in colour.. To me, the BBC-documentry "the genius of photography" was a real eye-opener on this subject, I don't believe Black&White is so much more natural. To me anything goes as long as the picture itself is strong.

I think, if you want to sell you work it might be in color, But I dont care about, the b/w has more feeling... the tradicional of course....

Hi all,
I would like to start a discussion about colour v black and white...
As I shoot digital, I normally shoot colour. Just recently, I started playing with the b/w conversion on Nikon's Capture NX software, which gives excellent results. I know that some shots just work better in b/w while others in colour. However, sometimes I get stuck and just don't know what's best and, above all, if coulour or b/w help enhance a particular vision...
Any thoughts?
