changes during 18 years in the old Miao village---Basha

In autumn of 1989, I came to take photography in Basha--- a Miao village in Congjiang county of Guizhou province, and cemented a profound friendship with people of Miao nationality there. The village Basha lies deep in lofty mountains, like a piece of green leaf. The ancient simple pile-dwellings of Miao lie on the green slopes. Around the houses there are old towering trees and the chirping of birds and cicadas can be heard everywhere. Some national festivals, such as Lusheng festival and Green grain eating festival are full of national characteristics. In 18 years I recorded the growing life there as well as the changes of villagers’ ideas and living conditions.

Along with China’s reform and open policy as well as the impact of modern civilization, in recent years many young men and women in Basha went to study and work outside the mountains. With the knowledge and technical skills they brought back, the poor and backward conditions in the mountain village have been changed. Therefore, the average yearly income has been increasing in a large scale. The gap between city and the old mountain village which has been silenced for thousands of years is beginning to close, and Basha is developing into a famous tourist scenic spot in China.

Nowadays Basha is prosperous and flourishing. The lodging expense in a wood hostel per night is only 50 yuan, and buying a ticket for 20 yuan, people can enjoy the extraordinary folk custom performances which are full of national characteristics and visit the well-preserved original natural landscape that attract a large number of tourists from China and foreign 。

I was looking for the "Submission Guidelines" from Associated Press and I got the following link: http://fmmac2.mm.ap.org/reader_photos/upload.php
the link seems to be fake so I decided not use it before I have know if it is fake or not.
Can anyone one here confirm if this link is real?

Andre, great forum. Personally, i think the trend in multimedia productions makes great photography too ephemeral a medium. I dunno man. I hate to wax intellectual on this sort of thing, but from my foxhole, it feels like great photographs and great photographers just dont have the permanence and the punch they once did. On the other hand these sort of formats reach a much larger audience than they once did, which is a good thing. Things are changing very quickly.
